First Horizon is now the presenting sponsor of Durham Performing Arts Center.
The announcement of the venue’s first ever presenting sponsor came Friday morning during a media conference featuring Durham Mayor Leonardo Williams, who shared that he walks his dog past the venue because he lives nearby. He praised the staff saying that, “Whenever you walk into the building you feel like family.”
DPAC’s partnership with First Horizon is a first for the venue, which opened in November 2008.
Following the announcement, staff and guests were invited on stage to enjoy a lunch filled with items previously served by in-house catering to performers. The menu included Andre 3000’s Spinach Salad, Lyle Lovett’s brisket with gouda grits and Patty LaBelle’s sweet potato wedges. Dessert included Chris Rock’s chocolate covered strawberries and Morrisey’s chocolate cake.
