WOODBURY, MN — HealthEast has become the named sponsor of the city’s Bielenberg Sports Center after the Woodbury City Council approved the proposal at its April 26 meeting. As part of the 14-year sponsorship agreement, the facility has been renamed HealthEast Sports Center.
In addition to naming rights, the proposal includes efforts by HealthEast to educate members of the community on a range of topics including health screenings and the importance of concussion baseline testing, all to promote long-term improvements in the health of Woodbury and surrounding communities.
As part of the arrangement, HealthEast will invest $126,000 annually for 14 years. At the end of that time, HealthEast would be given the option to extend the agreement for an additional five years.
The Bielenberg family is supportive of this change, city officials said. The city will continue to honor the family legacy within the sports center and in other areas of the city, according to a news release.
Now that the funds are secured, the city will begin the process of deciding how the sponsorship money will be used. The Woodbury City Council is planning future discussions to determine how the new resources could be leveraged to further initiatives that promote healthy, active lifestyles in the community.
There is no timeline in place for this process; however, city officials said it will include a public comment period for residents to share their ideas.
